RUE’s Director, Graham Lloyd is Chair of a voluntary youth work organisation Young People First.

Currently part of the UK Youth national network, Young People First is an independent voluntary organisation committed to supporting young people in the areas of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Its work includes the promotion and delivery of high quality youth work and supporting approx. 100  affiliated culturally diverse groups and projects. It also manages the Youth Opportunity Funds for both Leicester City and Leicestershire County Councils. Its specific aims are to:

  • bring together and improve communication between young people and workers from affiliated groups and projects and the wider network.
  • facilitate the active involvement of young people in the development and delivery of youth work provision across the geographical area.
  • offer professional and practical support to youth workers and promote clear policies and good practice.
  • seek partnership with other agencies who work with and for young people
  • be recognised as the voluntary sector agency providing support, information and advice about youth work in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
